Hello, nice to meet you all, looking forward to reading and joining in with discussions on here regarding the dreaded RA Sad
I am 40 yrs of age, divorced with 3 sons 18,14,7 all have their birthdays coming up in July so be another yr older!
Diagnosed when I became pregnant with my youngest son in November 2004 - I remember it clearly as married September 2004 when life was normal - worked as Manager of Out of hours GP, just bought new home life was fantastic then it all changed two months later and life has never been the same! Divorced year later moved into rented house and all downhill from there!
Anyway, can't complain much worse off then me.........
I take mixture of meds recently swopping Enbrel for Humira on my 5th one injected this morning......along with Methotrexate 20mg, Plauquenil, Pred ( currently coming down on), Meloxicam, Sulfasalazine, regular joint injections of steroids plus for pain I take co codamol and tramadol if very bad but tend to not take tramadol that much as find the nausea too much urgh!
I live not far from Swansea and near to my parents who are a fantastic help......miss working tried many times to go back but just find the unpredictability of this RA too much of a strain. Maybe in time when under control I will return. x

Hi Angelite and welcome to the forum - lots of info, empathy etc from the members on here. I`m glad you are near your family for support - always a good thing.

I`m Kathleen, aged 62, and live up north in Durham. I was diagnosed in 2006, and tried and failed on various DMARDs/combinations of meds, until being given Humira, which made a considerable difference to my quality of life. Like you, I take various painkillers, stomach protector et al. Tramadol is my friend when things are bad!

I`m married to Nick, (41 years - eeek! ) and we have two sons and two adorable grandsons.

Take care, and do keep posting. We`re off on holiday tonight, but I will check the forum when I get back.

Kathleen x

hi Angelite,

welcome to the forum.

sorry to hear how RA has affected you .. must have been very difficult bringing up 3 boys,

i was diagnosed 3 years ago, took about 18 months to get fully under control. i take 10mg Methotrexate, Hydyroxy and added Humira in August 2011 which has worked so well for me. fortnately i don't take painkillers or steroids, but i do take a whole heap of other meds for BP etc.

i'm like Kathleen been married 41 years next month eeeekkk .. lol,

we are a friendly lot in here so keep posting away and reading back old threads, i found that very useful at the beginning if not a little scary at time's, but i realised what happens to one doesn't happen to all.

Hi Angelite , welcome BigGrin

I'm sophie 38 I'm a single mum to a 8 year old boy , I was diagnosed at 21 . I'm currently on enbrel ,

You will find this site really helpful , I only found it in 2009 not long after having my first op ( knee replacement )

It was my sister who made me join this site , to talk to people who understand the illness .

Sound like you have your hands full with 3 boys to look after , I find it hard with just one ! But like you have a lot of help from my
Family .

Hello Angelite

Welcome to the forum. My name is Paula, I was diagnosed May 2008. I am married with two girls and have two grandchildren.

I always want to take my hat off to anyone suffering with RA and bring up children, it really must be so difficult. Both of my girls and left home before I was diagnosed with it.

You will find such a lot of support on here, advice and friendship.

Please keep posting.

Take Care

Hi Angelite

My name is Jackie and I was diagnosed in 2009 but think I have had RA all my life with the joint damage that has been found. Even after four years I have still not entirely come to terms with the fact that I have RA but I plough on as best as I can.

I am on my fourth anti-tnf and this one seems to be the best so far. It is Simponi and the only one I have not had an allergic reaction to. I also take the normal Methotrexate, anti-inflammatories, Vitamin D (recent addition) and pain killers. I am unable to work whilst taking Tramadol as it spaces me out too much so have to rely on plain on paracetemol to get me through the week.

I work five days a week, three at work and two at home. I am admin based and the company I work for have been brilliant in setting me up at home so it is no different than being in the office. I would not be able to manage five days going out and running around (yes I do lots even though it is supposed to be desk based). Therefore on the two days I work at home I don't even need to get dressed if I don't want to Smile

This forum has been a god send to me over the years, not just supplying information, but giving me a network of friends who understand just what I am going through and can give me morale support and sensible advice. I think all RA Consultants should be diagnosed with the disease before they are able to practice and then our care would be so different.

Keep posting and take care.

Jackie

Hi Angelite x
I'm Liz 43, not a newbie but haven't been around so much lately for various reasons (one of them divorce) so can sympathise somewhat, it's very hard sometimes xx
Hope your boys enjoy their birthdays and are looking after mum best they can. I have two daughters 16 and 19 - growing up so fast!
I'm hoping to pop back much more regularly from now on so will look out for your posts, and hope the injections and other meds help you feel a bit better eventually xx
